How to use color in your org chart transcript

0:00 Hi there. In this video we're gonna run through how to add color to your org chart. And now we're gonna divide up the video into two parts so it'll be the basics to begin with.
0:10 And then after that we'll go into some more slightly advanced aspects of the feature. Um, but I'll tell you before we do that.
0:18 Um, so as you can see here, we've got a color, uh, an org chart with a few positions colored in dark gray.
0:24 And, uh, we have some that are not colored at all. And what we're gonna do is color in our product team.
0:31 So there are a couple of different ways that you can color positions in the org chart or a few across the scenario.
0:38 So you can click the ellipsis on the top right of any position and that will color the individual position. And so what we're going to do is we're going to color, choose to color it, this one position blue.
0:52 And then we can also do this for all of the positions below, and I'm doing that. We'll switch off the blue for the Chief Product Officer, but by clicking on the ellipsis directly below any position, then we can choose to color all below as well.
1:08 So we're going to choose to color everything below in this, what says color four, but is blue. So that's the basics of doing it on the org chart.
1:18 At that point, you can kind of, you know, if that's all that you're looking for, then that's everything you need, but we can go a little bit deeper on this.
1:25 And so if we click on the ellipses again and then select color all, we can actually rename this color. So we can change it to whatever the functional area is.
1:34 And in this instance, it's the product team. So we're just going to change it to product team by clicking on the field below the color.
1:42 You can you can change the colors. You can also use hex number here to specify what type of what shade you want or what color you want.
1:51 And then you have more in built polyts here that you can change. So the purpose of changing the color name or providing a key, first of all, it means people can see, as I said, what that key is for the legend is for that specific color so they can see what the product team is.
2:10 But then you can use it in other areas of the product also. So if we go to the people in positions chart here or using the drop down when our menu is closed, we can select people in positions here also.
2:24 And then on this page, which is essentially a spreadsheet view, and we do also, we have a knowledge-based article on this view specifically with videos to come for it.
2:36 So if you do one more information, you can look at the knowledge-based article for the people in positions view. But on here we can actually group by the color also.
2:46 So if we want to see our functional areas, then we can see that here. So I've already done our customer success team and if we scroll down to where it's all alphabetized, so if we scroll down to our product team which might take a little bit of time because it's a lot of people So here we can see our
3:10 product team has been sorted by color. Now you can also color on the people in positions chart as well So if we wanted to color teams in bulk, we could tick the bar at the top for the product team select color and then we can change the color if we want.
3:29 And you can also do that on the fork or sorry you can also view this on the forecast sheet. Now this is only accessible to advanced users.
3:39 But if you wanted to group by color you can do that. So let's say group by color here. Let's say we wanted to look at the compensation for a different team's, the wrong one, data.
3:52 We want to look at our compensation across all of our teams. We can see that on a functional basis here and how it's going to change over time.
4:01 Now, in this instance, I haven't added in any starter and dates. If you want more information on how to use these controls within the forecast sheet, then we do have a page, a knowledge-based page for this as well with a video to come.
4:15 But yeah, so you can see your functional area is broken down by color here, and you can actually change the colors as well.
4:21 So if we, let's say that we didn't have one for, I don't know to say risk and compliance, then we can add that in there.
4:31 It's up there too above. So you can rename the colors in here also. And the last thing I will say is that you can also change them on a position by position basis using the right hand menu when we get back to the org chart.
4:46 So if you click on any position on the white space on any position or if you click the ellipsis or right click on any position and then select view, it's going to open the right hand menu here and then you can also set that color here.
5:01 So that's all the everything for this video. If you have any questions please reach out to us at support at functiony.com.
5:10 That's support at functiony.com. Thanks very much. Bye bye.
