December 2021: Export upgrade, and a password to protect your shared live links.

1.  Export upgrade, new JPG and PNG export options

Exporting has benefited from continuous improvements as we strive to perfect the sharing experience. When you next export your chart, you'll notice a cleaner image with improved spacing, as well as the additional export options; JPG, and PNG. 🎉.

To support this, we've created a new export menu (found in two places in your Org Canvas menus), condensed the exported charts to fit better in your emails and slideshows, and improved text wrapping to make it easier to read multiple roles and longer names.

To export a chart, head to the export menu (found in either your chart drop down menu, or the download button on the top right of your screen), select the format in which you'd like to export, and voilà - you now have a beautiful org chart image, ready to be shared.
Happy holidays from us, this is definitely a release we're celebrating 🔔🎁.

2. Live link password and view history

You asked for more security with your live links, and we delivered. This new addition to live link sharing enables you to add and reset passwords to any link you've created in the past, and any links you create from now.

In addition to passwords, we've also added a history view. In this view you can see and reactivate any old links, as well as a total view count for each link created. To access history, hit the ellipsis menu visible to the right of each link.

When viewers access a password-protected live link, they will see the window below and will need to enter the exact password to view the org chart.

Once they have entered the correct password, viewers will be able to access the org or team chart you have shared. This is view only. They can zoom in to the chart, and change how many 'levels' are seen in the hierarchy, but there are no edit permissions.

3. Bug fixes, site optimization, and privacy

While we're gearing up for the holiday season, our friendly engineers are continuing to make Functionly a better place. We don't talk about this in every release update - but there is a constant stream of pull requests coming through, filled with bug fixes, site optimization (to make things run faster, and more smoothly) and our endless mission to ensure Functionly remains a safe and secure place for your data.

We couldn't do it without them! These guys are rock stars and we just wanted to shout that out 👏

Happy holidays everyone! And thank goodness 2021 is almost over... 😅
